Coming back in the latter half of their game, the Lotte Giants won a game over the LG Twins 5-3 on Friday. The game was the final of a two-game series hosted by the Twins at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, South Korea.

While the Giants lost the game, they were the first to score. They got up by one run in the fourth inning after a sacrifice fly ball from Dixon Machado drove Jeon Jun-woo home.

The biggest name in the game was Wyverns player Choi Ji-hoon, the right fielder who was involved in numerous key plays in the game. Scoring a run and being driven home in the other scoring play for the team, Choi also showed his defensive ability by robbing a run for the final out of the game.

The first run for the Wyverns came early, as a wild pitch allowed Choi to score from third base.

Fast-forwarding to the seventh inning, Choi was able to drive home a runner off of a hit to give the Wyverns their second run. While it was reliever Kim Dae-woo at the mound, the run was scored against starter Adrian Sampson, who had given up a hit to runner Ko Jong-wook earlier in the inning.

Long, Enduring Stint For Sampson Ends In Loss

Sampson’s near-seven-inning performance gave him the loss for the game. Throwing 111 pitches, the most he has thrown in a 2020 appearance, he allowed four hits and three walks while picking up two strikeouts. His 2020 record is now 5-9.

Wyverns starter Lee Geon-wook had a low-stress night on the mound, pitching six innings without giving up a run. The win evened his 2020 record at 6-6.

The sole run for the Giants was earned in the eighth inning, as a sacrifice fly ball from Jeon Jun-woo took a runner home. The run was scored against Lee Tae-yang, who was able to finish the inning.

A long and successful fourth inning saw the Lotte Giants score 10 runs, helping lead the team to a blowout 12-4 victory over the Samsung Lions on Friday. The win gave the Giants a two-game sweep against the Lions at their home park, the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, South Korea.

Double-Digit Inning Earns Giants Lead

The explosive fourth inning saw five different batters earn RBIs. The first was Son Ah-seop, who drove home one run with a hit. Min Byung-hun scored two with a hit, with the fourth run of the inning coming from the following hit from Han Dong-hee.

A hit from Lee Dae-ho took home two more runs, sounding the end of the stint on the mound for Woo Kyu-min, who had pitched in the third inning as well.

While Noh Sung-ho came in and finished the inning, he gave up a grand slam to An Chi-hong that made the game 12-3.

The loss for the game was given to reliever Woo, who allowed the majority of the runs from the inning. While Lee Sang-min was the starting pitcher for the Lions, Lee only went two innings. Lee, like the other five pitchers who played for the Lions in the game, is mainly a reliever.

Making a nine-run comeback in the seventh inning, the Lotte Giants were able to fight back against the Samsung Lions for a 13-8 win on Thursday. The victory started a two-game series hosted by the Giants at the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, South Korea.

The game saw the Lions ahead first, as the team was able to put up seven runs in the first four innings. While the Giants scored early as well, the seventh inning was crucial for them winning the game.

The seventh inning saw the Lions use three different pitchers. The Giants were able to do 14 at-bats, with seven of those at-bats having scoring plays attached to them.

Lions Put Down Seven Runs Against Straily

The performance from starter Dan Straily lasted six innings, giving up seven runs during his performance. The first two innings saw him give up one run, with the third and fourth seeing three runs score each. The no-decision for Straily broke an 11-game streak of being given either a win or a loss.

Straily had a single-game ERA of 10.50, the second-highest he has gotten this season (his highest is an August 18th loss to the Doosan Bears).

The first run for the Lions came early, as a ground-rule double for Koo Ja-wook took home a runner.

Business picked back up in the third inning for the Lions. After putting two runners on base, the Lions scored after a fly ball dropped in for a hit in right field. The ball, which was hit by Koo Ja-wook, dropped in fair and allowed a run.

A hit from Kim Dong-yeop later in the inning gave the team two more runs, making the score 4-0.

The first two runs for the Giants came in the third inning after a two-run home run from Jeon Jun-woo.

Going back to scoring in the fourth inning, the Lions were able to move the game to a 7-2 score. Driving home a run each, Park Gye-beom and Kang Han-wool earned hits in the inning. The third run came off of a ground ball from Koo Ja-wook that allowed Park Hae-min to get home.

Putting down another run for the Giants was An Chi-hong, who hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. While starter Kim Dae-woo finished the inning, his stint did not go past the fourth.

The Giants were able to put down one run in the sixth inning, as a hit from Jeon Jun-woo took a runner around from second base. While the run scored with Choi Ji-gwang on the mound, it was ruled a run against the previous reliever, Noh Sung-ho.

Kim’s performance in the seventh inning earned him the win for the game. The stint gave him his first decision of 2020 through 16 appearances.

Marathon of Runs Give Giants Lead In Seventh

The first pitcher in the seventh inning for the Lions was Choi Ji-gwang. He was taken out of play after allowing two runs after facing five batters. Up next came  Kim Yoon-soo, who gave up three hits and a walk while earning the second out. Four runs came in during his stint, two of which were scored against the previous pitcher, Choi.

While reliever Jang Pil-joon was able to enter the game and finish the inning, three more runs came in off of two more hits. By the time he finished the inning, the Giants had scored nine runs, and the game had moved to what would be its final score, 13-8.

The loss for the game was given to Kim, the second pitcher of the trio to appear in the eighth inning. The loss makes his 2020 record 3-4 through 47 appearances.

While the NC Dinos were able to battle back from a deficit late on Wednesday, the Lotte Giants were able to win 7-5 after a three-run hit from Kim Joon-tae in the 10th inning.

The win tied up a two-game series between the teams that was hosted at the home ballpark for the Dinos, the Changwon NC Park in Changwon, South Korea.

The Giants picked up a lead early, putting down four runs in the opening innings. The runs gave the team a lead that they held onto until the ninth inning, where the Dinos were able to tie up the game and force extra innings.

Giants Score Four In The First

After the bases were loaded by starting pitcher Mike Wright, Giants player Lee Dae-ho drove home two runners off of a hit.

A ground ball from Dixon Machado and a hit from An Chi-hong later in the inning both scored runs, making the game 4-0 for the Busan squad.

Dinos Start Scoring

The Dinos started to answer back in the fifth, as a solo home run from Na Sung-bum shortened the Giants lead to three runs.

The fifth was the final inning for Giants starter Noh Kyung-eun. Although the five-inning appearance was not a win for Noh, it was a good rebound following two consecutive losses that saw him give up numerous runs.

The Dinos picked up their second run in the eighth inning, as a hit from No Jin-hyuk drove home a runner. The run came against reliever Koo Seung-min.

Game Gets Tied Late

The Dinos were able to string together runs late in the game to stay alive.

Controversy emerged early in the bottom of the ninth inning, as a call at second base against runner Park Min-woo had to be reviewed. Although some camera angles indicated there were points when Park was off the base while shortstop Machado tagged him, the umpires ruled Park as safe on the play. The Giants, who challenged the initial call, protested it for a short period of time afterwards as well.

The large amount of attention devoted to second base overshadowed the fact that it was also a scoring play that took a runner home, moving the game to 4-3.

Later in the inning a hit from Yang Eui-ji scored a run, tying the game up at 4-4.

10th Inning Pitcher Won Given Loss

The deciding runs batted in by Kim in the 10th upped his 2020 tally of runs to 28. The play took home three runners, two of which were walked.

The loss for the game was given to reliever Won Jong-hyun, who allowed the three runs in the 10th inning. He had played the full ninth inning before entering in extra innings.

The loss, his fourth of the year, makes his 2020 record a negative 3-4.

Kim Stays Through 10th For Win

Despite allowing runs in the ninth inning, Giants closer Kim Won-joong returned in the 10th to finish the game. While he did finish the game, he allowed another run off of a ground ball from Kwon Hee-dong. Kim earned his fourth win of the season for his two-inning outing.

A Return To Busan To Face Lions

Having finished their two games against the Dinos, the Giants will now head back home for a two-game series against the Samsung Lions. The team currently has a 50-48-1 record and sits seventh in the KBO, three games behind the sixth-place Kia Tigers.

The NC Dinos picked up a blowout victory on Tuesday, defeating the Lotte Giants 14-2 in an effort that saw the team pick up 10 runs in the first inning. The win, which came at the home ballpark for the Dinos, the Changwon NC Park in Changwon, South Korea, broke a losing streak for the currently top-ranked KBO team.

Dinos Put Down 10 Runs

The game went out of reach for the Giants quickly after a disastrous first inning.

Kim Dae-woo came in next, allowing six more runs after hits from No Jin-hyuk, Kwon Hee-dong, Park Min-woo, Na Sung-num and Yang Eu-ji all earned RBIs. The first in the rally against Kim, a two-run hit from No, was scored against the first pitcher, Song.

The short yet damaging stunt from Song gave him the loss for the game. Being played as a starter for the first time in 2020, Song was given a loss to even his 2020 record at 2-2.

Four More For The Dinos

Another rally for the Dinos came in the third inning, allowing the team to rack up 14 runs in total. Na and Yang, tho batters who scored in the first inning, both scored runs in a rally that also saw hits from Park Suk-min and Kang Jin-sung drive home runners.

The four runs were scored against Jang Won-sam, a pitcher who had the longest stint out of all Giants on Tuesday, playing through the second to fourth innings.

Giants Show Life, Just Not Enough

The sole scoring from the Giants came in the fourth when the team put down two runs. The team was able to score runs off of hits from Lee Dae-ho and Lee Byung-kyu.

The runs came against starter Song Myung-gi, who played another full inning before being taken out of the game. Only playing as a starter for the fourth time in 2020, Song was given a win for the game, making his 2020 record 3-1.

Dinos Look To Retain First

After a previous week that saw them pick up numerous losses, the Dinos now sit only one-and-a-half games ahead of the second-place Kiwoom Heroes.
