10-Run Inning Gives Giants Landslide Victory Against Lions

A long and successful fourth inning saw the Lotte Giants score 10 runs, helping lead the team to a blowout 12-4 victory over the Samsung Lions on Friday. The win gave the Giants a two-game sweep against the Lions at their home park, the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, South Korea.

Double-Digit Inning Earns Giants Lead

The explosive fourth inning saw five different batters earn RBIs. The first was Son Ah-seop, who drove home one run with a hit. Min Byung-hun scored two with a hit, with the fourth run of the inning coming from the following hit from Han Dong-hee.

A hit from Lee Dae-ho took home two more runs, sounding the end of the stint on the mound for Woo Kyu-min, who had pitched in the third inning as well.

While Noh Sung-ho came in and finished the inning, he gave up a grand slam to An Chi-hong that made the game 12-3.

The loss for the game was given to reliever Woo, who allowed the majority of the runs from the inning. While Lee Sang-min was the starting pitcher for the Lions, Lee only went two innings. Lee, like the other five pitchers who played for the Lions in the game, is mainly a reliever.

Early Innings Gave Lions Lead

Before the Giants took a large lead in the game, the Lions had a short lead that was obtained in the third inning.

Lee Byung-kyu scored the first run for the Giants, driving home a runner in the first inning with a hit.

The Lions answered back an inning later, as a solo home run from Kim Dong-yeop tied up the game.

A lead was gained by the Lions in the third inning after a two-run home run was hit by Koo Ja-wook.

The runs came against Giants starter Seo Jun-won, who played five innings before being removed from play. Being given the win for the game, Seo moved his 2020 record to 7-4.

Late Runs From Both Teams

The last run for the Lions came in the fifth inning, as a sacrifice fly from Daniel Palka allowed a runner to get home.

The Giants scored their 12th run in the sixth inning. A hit from Kim Jae-yoo against reliever Jang Pil-joon brought in the run.

Off To Incheon

Finishing off their week of play, the Giants will head to Incheon for a two-game series against the SK Wyverns. The team has played the Wyverns 10 times in 2020, having won six of those encounters.

The first pitch for Saturday’s game is set for 5:00PM KST (4:00AM EDT).
