Three-Run Shot From Jeon Gives Giants Win Against Eagles

A three-run home run from Jeon Jun-woo gave the Lotte Giants a 4-1 win on Friday over the Hanhwa Eagles. The run gave the team the lead after five innings of a tied ballgame.

The game kicked off a three-game series hosted by the Giants at the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, South Korea.

The home run from Jeon was his 22nd of the season. It took home Lee Byung-hyu and Kim Dong-han, who got on base with a walk and a hit (Kim was a pinch runner for Lee Dae-ho) previously in the inning.

The play came against Jun Woo-ram, who pitched the eighth inning for the Eagles. The loss moved Jung’s 2020 record to 3-5, with a record of 1-1 against the Giants.

Team Tie Up Early, Long Performance Earns Straily Win

Both teams scored runs early to tie the game at 1-1. First it was the Giants, as Han Dong-hee hit a solo home run in the second inning against starter Kim Min-woo.

A hit from Noh Soo-kwang scored the sole run for the Eagles in the third inning. The run came against Dan Straily, who played eight innings to be given the win for the game.

Straily’s 2020 record is now 13-4, with his last loss dating back to mid-August.

Closer Kim Won-joong pitched the ninth inning to earn the save.

Giants Have 14 Games Left To Move Up Two Spots

With 14 games left in the season, the Giants still have a chance at taking the wild card spot in the KBO playoffs. The team currently sits three games behind the Doosan Bears and Kia Tigers, who are tied for fifth in the league.

The Giants will host the Eagles two more times this week. The first pitch for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 2:00PM KST (1:00AM EDT).

Scoring eight runs in a three-inning pocket of time, the Samsung Lions got ahead to win 8-2 over the NC Dinos.

Hits from Moon Sang-cheol and Park Seung-wook scored runs for the KT Wiz in the eighth inning, putting them ahead 5-2 in a previously tied game against the LG Twins.
