The Lotte Giants won a game 8-5 on Tuesday after scoring numerous runs early against LG Twins starter Tyler Wilson. The win kicked off a three-game series hosted by the Twins at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, South Korea.
The Giants put down seven runs against starting Twins pitcher Wilson to take the lead early. Wilson pitched in four innings before the team replaced him. Being given the loss for the game, Wilson now has a 10-8 2020 record.
The scoring for the Giants kicked off with a bang, as Son Ah-seop hit a two-run home run.
Son earned another RBI in the next inning, driving home a runner with a hit. Oh Yoon-suk also drove a runner home, making the score 4-0.
The third inning was the last early in the game which saw the Giants score. After Han Dong-hee picked up an RBI, Oh returned to the plate to score two more runners and move the game to a 7-0 score.
The Giants scored their final run of the game in the sixth inning, as a hit from Lee Byung-kyu against pitcher Lee Sang-gyu brought in a run.
Twins Respond Late
The Twins were able to put down five runs against the Giants late in the game. The first three came in the sixth inning against Giants starter Adrian Sampson.
Lee Hyung-jong scored a three-run home run in the sixth inning to make the score 8-3. Sampson was able to finish the inning to secure his sixth win of the season, making his 2020 record 6-10.
The final two runs from the team came in the eighth, as Kim Hyun-soo and Lee Hyung-jong scored runs off of doubles.
Clock Ticks Down For Playoff Push
Now with 17 games left in the season, the Giants sit seventh in the KBO with a record of 59-57-1. The team sits four games behind the Doosan Bears, who are in fifth, the final playoff spot in the standings. Between the two teams is the Kia Tigers, who the Giants are three games behind.
The Giants will face the Twins two more times this week, with a game on both Wednesday and Thursday. The first pitch for Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 2:00PM KST (1:00AM EDT).
