The Lotte Giants won a game against the KT Wiz with a shutout score of 8-0 on Tuesday, with starting pitcher Dan Straily leading the charge. The win started a two-game series between the teams at the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, South Korea.

Straily Puts On Another Successful Performance

A large part of the credit for Tuesday’s Giants win can go to starter Straily, who held the Wiz scoreless.

Allowing a sole hit while on the mound, Dan Straily earned his 11th win as a Giant. Improving his 2020 record to 11-4, Straily earned eight strikeouts in his seven-inning outing. Straily continues to lead the KBO in 2020 strikeouts, now with a total of 160.

Wiz starter Kim Min-soo was given the loss for the game. Being pulled in the sixth inning, Kim allowed three runs, six hits and one walk while earning three strikeouts. Kim’s 2020 record is now 3-7, with two of those losses being against the Giants.

Home Runs Earn Giants Lead

Two solo home runs put the Giants ahead early on. Lee Byung-yu was the first to score a home run, hitting it in the third inning. Two innings later, Jeon Jun-woo hit his 19th of the year.

Giants Score Six More In The Sixth

Although two runs would have done the job, the Giants were able to put down six more in the sixth inning, bringing the total to eight.

Most of the runs in the sixth inning were scored against Jeon Yoo-soo, a reliever for the Wiz. Starting pitcher Kim appeared for the first two batters, allowing a hit and one strikeout. Because of allowing the hit, the first of six runs in the inning were scored against him.

The first run came off the bat of Lee Byung-kyu, driving home a runner. The next run was forced home, as a walk to Jung Bo-geun took third base runner Lee Dae-ho home.

An Chi-hong was responsible for two of the runs, taking in two runners off of a hit to left field. After facing six batters, reliever Jeon was replaced by Lee Dae-eun, who finished the inning.

Before closing out the inning, Lee gave up a hit to Son Ah-seop which took home two more runs, moving the game to its final score of 8-0.

Giants Look To Continue Pattern Against Wiz on Wednesday

With their loss on Tuesday, the Wiz are now tied for third in the KBO with the LG Twins. Both teams currently hold an identical win percentage of 56.8%.

While the Wiz are currently three spots higher than the Giants in the KBO standings, the Giants have had a season-long history of defeating the team. Tuesday’s win was the club’s eighth against the team through 11 matchups.

The teams will meet again on Wednesday, with the first pitch of the game scheduled for 6:30PM KST (5:30AM EDT).
