Twins Rally For Win Against Giants Starter Sampson

The LG Twins took a 9-3 win on the road over the Lotte Giants on Wednesday, getting the lead from a rally of runs late in the starting appearance of Adrian Sampson. The win tied up the series hosted by the Giants at the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, South Korea.

The Giants earned a two-run lead early on, with the Twins eventually tying and then taking a large lead shortly after.

A pair of home runs gave the Giants a short lead. The first to hit one was Han Dong-hee in the second inning. An inning later, Jeon Jun-woo scored with his own.

The Twins tied the game up an inning later with hits from both Hong Chang-gi and Jung Ju-hyeon bringing in runs.

A tough fifth inning was what took the game out of reach for the Giants.

The Twins jumped ahead in the fifth after a three-run home run from Kim Hyun-soo made the game 5-2. After a hit from Yoo Kang-nam scored another run, Giants starter Adrian Sampson was taken out of the game.

Reliever Kim Dae-woo finished the inning, but not before a hit from Lee Chun-woong came in that took the game to an 8-2 score.

Sampson has struggled in the 2020 season apart from a few standout performances. The Wednesday game gave him his sixth loss of the season, moving his record to 3-6.

The Twins tacked on another run late, as a hit from Son Ho-young drove in a runner. Giants player Jung Hoon hit a solo home run later in the inning to make the game 9-3.

Tied Series With A Game To Go

The Giants and Twins will play one more game against each other this week before playing their weekend games against different teams. The first pitch for Thursday’s game is set for 6:30PM KST (5:30AM EDT).
