Twins Earn 10th Inning Walk-Off Over Giants

A 10th inning hit from Jeong Keun-woo gave the LG Twins a 3-2 win over the Lotte Giants, ending the multi-game streak of wins that the Giants held before. The hit into outfield from Jeong brought Chae Eun-sung home in a walk-off fashion at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, Korea.

Giants Get Small Lead

The Giants had a good start with an early rally in the first inning, stringing together three hits. The third of the trio came from Dixon Machado, who brought in Son Ah-seop from second around to home.

A second run came in the third inning, with Ji Sung-joon driving in a runner. Being only his second game as a Giant, Ji has earned an RBI in both games.

Later in the third inning the Twins started to answer back. It started with a sacrifice fly from Lee Chun-woong that took Jeong Keun-woo home.

Short Appearance From Wilson

Twins pitcher Tyler Wilson had his seventh appearance of the season, going five innings before being taken out. His long innings made his pitch count max out, pitching 101 before leaving the game. He finished the game with a 3.60 ERA, allowing five hits and two runs.

Out of the four relievers that came in for the Twins, the 10th inning pitcher, Song Eun-beom was given the win, retiring the Giants with 10 pitches, allowing only one hit. The win was his first of the season over eight appearances.

Twins Tie It Up

The tying run for the Twins came in the eighth, with a line drive from Yoo Kang-nam scoring Jeong. Earlier in the at bat, Jeong stole second, and advanced to third off of a passed ball.

Going deep into the game, Giants starter Dan Straily was taken out of the game after the play. Prior to the scoring play, Straily was having one of his best games this season, limiting the Twins to one hit. He finished the game with seven strikeouts, keeping him with one of the leading pitchers for punch-outs in the league (50).

The Game Ending Play

Going into the 10th inning, the Twins were able to pull of their deciding run against reliever Park Jin-hyung. It started with Chae getting on-base with a double. After a bunt from Kim Min-sung, Chae advanced to third. Shortly after, the deciding play from Jeong came in, ending the game.

Park got his first loss of the year in what was his 17th appearance of the season.

Streak Ends For Giants, Moving Them Back To Sixth

Losing the game, the Giants had their six-game winning streak snapped. They also dropped back to sixth place in the KBO, being overtaken by the Kia Tigers.

The win for the Twins keep them tied for second place in the KBO with the Doosan Twins, who won their Friday game as well.

The Twins will host the Giants two more times this week, with the Saturday game starting at 5:00PM KST (4:00AM EDT). Numerous games in the KBO could be affected by weather tomorrow.

Going into extra innings, the Kiwoom Heroes were able to prevail in a low-scoring 3-2 game against the NC Dinos.

Shutout Performance For Giants Extends Eagles Losing Streak To 17

A shutout 5-0 performance for the Lotte Giants meant the 17th consecutive loss for the Hanhwa Eagles on Thursday. The win finished an undefeated six-game home stretch for the Giants, seeing the team take three wins of the Eagles and KT Wiz at the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, Korea.

Starters See Short Appearance

Appearances from both starters were brief in the game, with the shorter of the two being a two-and-one-third inning performance from Eagles pitcher Jang Min-jae, who was given the loss for the game.

While Giants pitcher Seo Jun-won did not allow any runs in his five-inning outing, there was three separate innings where he had to pitch out of a bases-loaded jam. Seo earned his third win of the season, moving his record to 3-1.

Extending the gap in the KBO standings from first to second place, the NC Dinos took a 7-5 win over the Doosan Bears, weathering a late storm from the 2019 KBO Champions.

After having two innings where they scored three runs in each, the Samsung Lions were able to coast to a 6-3 victory over the Kiwoom Heroes.

Blowout Loss For Eagles Continues String of Wins For Giants

In a game that saw numerouns runs scored by top players on the Lotte Giants, the team picked up a 12-2 win over the Hanhwa Eagles on Wednesday. From the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, Korea, the Eagles moved to 16-straight losses this season.

Noh Remains Successful Over Eagles

Being given a win for the second time against the Eagles this season, Giants starter Noh Kyung-eun put on his longest appearance of the season. Pitching seven innings, Noh gave up five hits and two runs while earning five strikeouts.

Innings from Park Shi-young and Ko Hyo-jun closed the game for the Giants.

Giants Earn Big Lead Early

Despite the blowout loss, it was the Eagles tt were first to get on the board. After Jared Hoying got on base earlier in the inning, he was drive home off of a sacrifice fly from Jung Jin-ho.

Despite having two outs on the board in the second inning, the Giants were able to put down five runs. After a hit from Kim Jae-yoo scored Dixon Machado, a three-run home run from Son Ah-seop and a solo shot from Jeon Jun-woo gave the team a 5-1 lead.

After a hit from Machado was fumbled by the Eagles shortstop, a runner from third base was able to score, making the game 6-1 in the third.

Giving up a sixth run, Kim Min-woo was pulled from the game in the third inning. The game was his fourth-straight loss, moving his 2020 record to 0-4 through seven appearances. Of the seven, this was also his shortest of the year so far.

Lee Dae-ho got a piece of the scoring as well, driving home a run in the fourth against reliever Lee Hyun-ho.

The Eagles scored their second run in the fifth, with Lee Yong-kyu batting in a runner, making the game 7-2.

Answering back in the same inning, Son got another RBI, letting Machado score off of a single.

Piling On

Adding onto their already six-run lead by the seventh inning, the Giants scored four more before coasting to a win. Son and Jeon, two batters that had already picked up RBIs did it again, as well as An Chi-hong, who brought in two runs off a hit to center.

Giants Look For Sweep At Home

The Giants will look for a sweep tomorrow in the series as they aim to make it into the top half of the KBO standings. They’re currently half a game behind the fifth place Kia Tigers, who retained their spot after winning over the KT Wiz on Wednesday.

Eagles Extend Losing Streak As Giants Pitcher Sampson Earns First Win

A string of strong innings late against starter Warwick Stauphold helped give the Lotte Giants a 9-3 win against the Hanhwa Eagles. The loss was the 15th-straight for the Eagles, who have recently demoted 10 players to the minor leagues following the departure of manager Han Yong-duk.

The game continued the now 4-0 home stretch for the Giants at the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, Korea.

Along with many Eagles players that had only appeared a few times this year, the lineup for the team included six players that were making their first KBO appearance this year.

Giants Gets Seven on Sauphold

After a few scoreless innings, the Giants had a strong fourth and fifth inning that gave them the lead. Hits from Oh Yoon-suk, Kim Joon-tae and Dixon Machado put the club up by four runs.

An explosive two-run home run from Lee Dae-ho in the next inning extended the lead further. Lee, a former MLB player and long-time Giant, currently leads the club in RBIs. A hit later in the inning from Jeon Jun-woo brought in the seventh run for the team.

Jeon picked up another RBI in the sixth, bringing a runner home from a hit that came against Moon Dong-wook.

Being given his third-straight loss, Warwick Sauphold gave up seven runs and 13 hits before being pulled from the game. The 30-year-old played his shortest game of the season so far, having gone around six or seven innings in most games before.

The final run of the game for the Giants came in the eighth, with Son Ah-seop driving a runner to the plate, making the game 9-3.

Sampson Has Best Start Yet

After two previously rough starts, Giants pitcher Adrian Sampson got his first win of the year in a game that took him into the seventh inning. He allowed nine hits, getting three strikeouts over six and two thirds.

Sampson was pulled in the seventh inning after giving up three runs, including a solo home run from Jared Hoying and a two-run hit from pinch hitter Park Jung-hyun.

An inning each from Song Seung-jun and Lee In-bok closed the show for the Giants.

Giants Sweep Wiz For The Second Time In Coasting Performance

Pulling off a sweep at home, the Lotte Giants finished their week of play with a 5-2 win over the KT Wiz. The game, which happened at the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, Korea, saw early runs give the Giants a lead they could hang onto.

Early Runs Put Giants Ahead

The Wiz got a quick jump on the Giants in the first after Kim Min-hyeok sent a solo shot past the wall in the outfield.

Wiz starter Odrisaimer Despaigne was pulled after the fifth inning of play. Allowing four runs and seven hits, Despaigne got four strikeouts as well. Being given the loss for the game, Despaigne moved to 2-2 this season.

The game was Despaigne’s second game against the Giants, putting on a strong six-inning performance against the team on the 2020 opening day game.

In his sixth start of the season, Giants pitcher Park Se-woong got his first win of the year after allowing only three hits and one run over six innings. The game broke his four-game string of losses.

A successful ninth inning appearance from Kim Won-joong gave him his fifth save of the season.

Late Runs For Both Clubs

The teams traded runs in the eighth inning. A hit from Kim Min-hyeok gave him his second RBI of the game, driving home a runner. Reliever Park Jin-hyung was brought in late in the inning to get the Wiz out of the jam.

A hit from Kim Joon-tae gave the Giants their three-run lead back, as he drove home a runner against Jeon Yoo-soo, making the game 5-2.

Jeon was taken out after the play, seemingly feeling pain in his right arm.

Sweeping the series, the Giants now move to 6-0 overall this season against the Wiz. Starting the series, the Giants were tied for seventh place in the KBO with the Wiz. Now, the Giants sit sixth, with the Wiz in eighth.

The Giants will stay at home for their next series, hosting the Hanhwa Eagles. The team has went 1-2 against the Eagles, playing one series against them in the season so far. Giants Earn Walk-Off Victory Over Wiz After Scoreless Innings

In the only scoring play of the game, a hit from Kang Lo-han gave the giants a 1-0 walk-off win over the KT Wiz on Saturday. The game, which was low in hits, was the second win for the Giants in the series.

The Memorial Day game took place from the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, Korea.

Kang Makes First Hit Count

The game ended after Kang hit a ball into right field that took Jeon Jun-woo around from second to home. The excitement that a game-winning play would usually produce was somewhat stunted, as the play was challenged by the Wiz, causing suspense for the verdict.

Jeon collided with the catcher at home, although he was seemingly fine after shaking off the play.

Kang, who earned the game-winning RBI for the Giants was pinch-hitting for Heo Il late in the game. Only appearing a few times this season, the play earned Kang his first hit and RBI of the year.

The hit came against Kim Jae-yoon, giving him the loss for the game. Kim’s record now stands at 0-2-1 after nine appearances this season.

The Giants had no trouble with their two relievers finishing the game. Park Jin-hyung earned two strikeouts in the eighth inning.

Despite the game being tied at the time, the club’s usual closer Kim Won-joong appeared in the ninth, keeping the Wiz hitless in the inning. The win moved his record to 2-0-4, keeping his ERA under 1.00 for the season.

Starters Put On Show

Starting pitchers for both the Giants and Wiz had good performances, going deep into the game before being taken out. Straily, who is arguably the best pitcher on the Giants, pitched seven innings, getting six strikeouts and allowing five hits.

Giants Bounce Back At Home With Bats Prevailing Over Wiz

In a game that heavily relied on home runs from both teams, the Lotte Giants were able to pick up a 6-4 win over the KT Wiz on Friday. The win, a return to home field the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, Korea for the Giants, saw the team bounce back from a sweep on the road against the Kia Tigers.

Giants Have Quick Start

The Giants got to work early, first with a hit from Oh Yoon-suk driving home Lee Dae-ho in the second inning. Han Dong-hee got an RBI as well later that inning, driving Heo Il in.

An inning later, An Chi-hong crushed a ball into left field for his second home run of the season.

Home Runs Earn Wiz Lead

The hottest bat on the Wiz, Mel Rojas Jr. made the game close again by hitting a two-run homer in the fourth inning, moving the score to 3-2. Early in the season so far, Rojas Jr. has found himself in a close battle for most RBIs in the KBO with Preston Tucker and Jose Miguel Fernandez.

The game was tied up in the sixth after another home run came in, this time off the bat of Park Kyung-soo.

The starting pitcher for the Giants, Seo Jun-won, finished the sixth inning before being taken out of play. Giving up three runs and eight hits, Seo also earned three strikeouts.

Taking the lead for the first time in the game, Wiz player Moon Sang-cheol hit a solo home run against Koo Seung-min.

Lee Does It Again

The tied game went back into the hands of the Giants after a monster three-run home run from Lee Dae-ho was hit into center field. The hit came against Ju Kwon, who was given the loss for the game.

Kim Gets Fourth Save

Making his 11th appearance of the season, Giants closer Kim Won-joong got his fourth save, making his record 1-0-4 so far.

The win went to Koo Seung-min, who pitched in the seventh inning. His record is now a clean 3-0.

In the eighth inning, Wiz left fielder Son Min-seop landed awkwardly while fielding a ball. He finished the inning, but was pinch hit for in the ninth.

Being tied for seventh in the standings prior to the game, the Giants now move up to sixth place in the KBO with a 12-15 record. The Wiz drop to eighth with a 11-16 record, as the Samsung Lions sit in-between the teams now.

A 7-3 win on Thursday gave the Kia Tigers their sixth win against the Lotte Giants. The victory, which came at the Gwangju Kia Champions Field in Gwangju, Korea, kept the Tigers undefeated against the Giants through six games this season.

Tigers Get Six on Starter

The Tigers had a loud first inning, with solo home runs from both Kim Ho-ryeong and Preston Tucker putting the team ahead by two. Tucker earned his eighth home run, helping maintain his lead for RBIs in the KBO currently.

The scoring continued in the fourth, with three separate plays driving in runs for the Tigers. After hits from Na Ji-wan and Jang Yeong-seok as well as a fielder’s choice play off the bat of Han Seung-taek, the Tigers advanced to a 5-0 lead.

Despite the rough fourth, Giants starter Noh Kyung-eun pitched through to the end of the fifth inning. He was taken out in the sixth after Choi Hyung-woo hit a solo home run to make the game 6-1.

Being given the loss for the game, Noh moved his record to 1-2 over five appearances this season.

Teams Score Late Runs

After earning his first RBI of the season on Wednesday, Heo Il put the Giants on the board again, driving in Son Ah-seop in the sixth inning.

Son got an RBI as well later, bringing in Oh Yoon-suk in the seventh. In his second game of the season, Oh got his first two hits after a hitless Wednesday appearance.

The Tigers answered back with one more run, as Kim Gyu-seong drove in a run in the seventh against Lee In-bok.

The Tigers had some trouble finishing the game, needing three pitchers to close the ninth. Son, who was in two scoring plays before, grounded out, advancing Oh home from third to make the game 7-3.

While three relievers finished up the game for the Tigers in the ninth, it was Jeon Sang-hyun who got the save. In his seventh-straight appearance that left batters hitless, Jeon kept his ERA at a flat 0.00, pitching 13-and-one-third innings so far this season.

Brooks Evens Record

Tigers starter Aaron Brooks had a successful performance, being taken out in the seventh inning after allowing two runs and seven hits, earning five strikeouts along the way. The win moved his record to 2-2, bouncing back from a loss in his previous appearance.

Teams Look To Break Ties In Standings

Now with a 15-12 record, the Tigers are now tied for fourth place in the KBO with the Kiwoom Heroes.

In the most grand of battles possible in baseball, the Kia Tigers exchanged home runs with the Lotte Giants, prevailing in the end with a score of 7-3. The win came at the home park for the Tigers, the Gwangju Kia Champions Field in Gwangju, Korea.

Tigers Get Last Laugh In Home Run Derby

It took one pitch for the Tigers to get ahead, with the first pitch from starter Park Se-woong being drilled by Kim Ho-ryeong for a home run.

The game went back to even in the fifth, with Giants player Kim Joon-tae hitting a ball past the right-field wall.

The home run battle carried into the sixth inning, with Giants first-baseman Lee Dae-ho hitting a solo shot that put them ahead 2-1.

Making the biggest splash of them all was a three-run home run shot by Yoo Min-sang in the bottom of the sixth, putting the Tigers in the lead again with a score of 4-2.

Insurance runs came in the seventh inning, with hits from Yoo Min-sang and Han Seung-taek bringing in runs. The Giants brought in three different pitchers in the inning in an attempt to finish the frame.

Both starting pitchers left the game after the sixth inning. Tigers pitcher, Im Ki-young, was given the win for the game, allowing two runs and seven hits in his appearance.

The Samsung Lions got a quick jump on the LG Twins in the first inning, getting two runs. After that, no more scoring happened, as the teams garnered only 11 hits altogether.

A rough four innings from NC Dinos starter Lee Jae-hak did enough to secure the SK Wyverns a 8-2 win. Being their fifth win in a row, the Wyverns could move up from their ninth place spot in the KBO if they continue their winning pattern this week.

Giving star pitcher Odrisaimer Despaigne his first loss of the season, 2019 KBO Champions Doosan Bears started their week with an 11-8 win against the KT Wiz.

The Hanhwa Eagles struggled immesely agains the Kiwoom Heroes, losing a 15-3 game. The team struggled to find it’s footing in pitching, with five of their six pitchers giving up at least one run.

Bats Heat Up For Giants In Extra Innings Versus Bears

For the second straight game in the series, the Doosan Bears went into extra innings against the Lotte Giants. This time, however, it was the Giants who got the win after a strong five-run 11th inning let them win 8-3.

The win was the only the Giants picked up in the series, losing the two previous games to the Bears at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, Korea.

Back-And-Forth Lead Battle

The Bears got on the board first, with a hit from Park Kun-woo batting in Choi Joo-hwan.

The Giants had a long fifth inning, scoring two runs with eight at-bats in the inning. With bases loaded, a routine ground ball to first went past the base, allowing two runners to score and make the game 2-1 for the Giants.

Extending their lead by another run, the Giants first-baseman Lee Dae-ho batted in Jeon Jun-woo in the seventh against reliever Park Chi-guk.

Tying the game up and forcing overtime innings, the Bearsd drove in two runs in the eighth against Lee In-bok. A hit from Park Kun-woo dropped down in center field, scoring two runners.

Extra Innings Needed

Heading to the 11th inning, the game was still tied 3-3. That changed in the 11th inning five a long series of runs scored by the Giants. First, a hit from Lee Dae-ho drove home aAro run, giving him his second RBI in the game. A following hit from An Chi-hong got two more runners in.

The first few runs came against reliever Lee Hyung-bum, with him being pulled after. Dixon Machado hit a sacrifice fly that scored another runner. Before Kim Joon-tae gave the third out to the team, a hit from Han Dong-hee scored another runner, giving the Giants an 8-3 lead.

The Bears were not able to score against Koo Seung-min, who pitched the final inning for the Giants.

American Starters Battle

Both starting pitchers played five innings. Giants starter Dan Straily allowed seven hits and one run, obtaining five strikeouts. Chris Flexen, who was making his second appearance against the Giants, allowed two runs and three hits.

Finishing the series, the Giants sit in sixth place in the KBO, with the Bears eing up in third. Next week, the Giants start their week on the road, playing against the Kia Tigers in a three game series. They head back home on Friday, hosting a series against the KT Wiz.

So far this season, the Giants have went 0-3 against the Tigers and 3-0 against the Wiz.

The series against the Tigers starts on Tuesday, with first pitch at 6:30PM KST (5:30AM EDT).

Runs in the fifth and sixth inning put the SK Wyverns ahead, allowing them to cruise to a 6-4 victory over the Hanhwa Eagles. The win gave the Wyverns a sweep of the whole series, extending their winning streak to four games.

Out of all high scoring games on Sunday, the biggest lead saw the NC Dinos get a 18-7 win against the Samsung Lions. The win was a bounce back for the top ranked KBO team, the Dinos, as they lost the first two games of the series.

A 13-5 win gave the LG Twins a good win against the Kia Tigers. It was a strong week for the Twins, who went 5-1 in their games.

While the Kiwoom Heroes would get close to the lead of the KT Wiz, they never fully caught up, with the Wiz winning 12-8.
