Flexen Holds Giants Off While Bears Get Early Lead

Early runs for the Doosan Bears helped give them a 10-5 win over the Lotte Giants on Friday. The game was the start of a weekend series at the home of the Giants, the Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan, South Korea.

Flexen Wins Again Over Giants

The Bears attained seven runs through the first two innings, making starter Seo Jun-won get pulled early. On the flipside of things, Bears starter Chris Flexen played seven innings, allowing only one run in his appearance. Flexen earned his fourth win of the year and his second against the Giants.

Seo Struggles

Giants starter Seo had a short and damaging performance, only playing four innings before the bullpen was activated. Seo was given his second loss of the year for his game.

The Bears took the lead early with a three-run home run from Oh Jae-il. The game got extended to a seven-run lead an inning later, as hits from Jose Miguel Fernandes and Choi Joo-hwan scored two runs each.

The Giants finally got on the board in the fourth inning after a sacrifice fly ball from Han Dong-hee scored Lee Dae-ho from third base.

Scoring picked back up for the Bears in the fifth, with hits from Oh Jae-won and Hur Kyoung-min driving home a run each. The plays came against Song Seung-jun, who finished the inning before being pulled from the game.

Oh picked up another RBI two innings later, hitting a solo home run against Kang Dong-ho to give the Bears their 10th run in the game.

Moon Struggles, But Ends Game

Bears closer Moon Dae-won struggled to end the game, giving up four runs before getting his third out. Moon allowed home runs from Han Dong-hee and Shin Bon-gi which tacked four runs onto the score.

Bears See Chance To Reclaim Second

A successful outing for the Bears could boost them back up to second in the KBO, a place which was taken by the Kiwoom Heroes after the Bears held it for numerous weeks of play. The Bears, who have a 34-23 record currently, are half-a-game behind the 35-23 Heroes.

The Giants will host the Bears for two more games this week. The second game is set to happen on Saturday with a start time of 6:00PM KST (5:00AM EDT).
