An extra-innings game went to the Kiwoom Hereos over the Lotte Giants on Thursday after a 10th inning hit from Ju Hyo-sang scored Park Jeong-eum to make the game 3-2.
The hit to right field enabled Park to do a mad sprint, coming from first base around to home. The win finished the home series for the Heroes 2-1 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, Korea.
The game was the second-straight walk-off victory for the Heroes, with a 4-3 win giving the team a win in the ninth inning on Wednesday.
Heroes Lead With Runs, But Giants Respond
The Heroes got ahead by two runs in the second inning. First, a wild pitch gave Kim Ha-seong the chance to get home from third base. In the same at bat, a foul ball by Jeon Byung-woo was caught. In a sliding play, Son Ah-seop caught the ball, but bobbled it after, giving Heo Jeong-hyeop time to run home.
A hit from Son in the sixth earned the first run for the Giants, bringing home Min Byung-hun.
The tying run came late in the game, as An Chi-hong batted in Dixon Machado in the ninth.
The walk-off win came against Oh Hyun-taek, who took his first loss over 17 appearances in the 2020 KBO season.
Moon Sung-hyun, the fifth and last pitcher to enter the game for the Heroes, was given the win.
Starters Get Lengthy Appearances
The starting pitchers for both teams put on long performances. Giants starter Dan Straily went eight innings, allowing three hits and two runs.
In his ninth 2020 appearance, the rookie scored a personal high for the season in strikeouts, earning 12. With 62 overall punch-outs this season, Straily leads the KBO in the statistic.
Heroes pitcher Lee Seung-ho went seven innings, allowing one run (not an earned run) and seven hits. The 21-year-old was not given the win for the game, and continues to hunt for his first decision in his third year for the club.
Heroes Up To Fourth Place
Winning their series over the Giants 2-1, the Heroes overtook the Kia Tigers for fourth place in the KBO. The team will start a three-game series with the SK Wyverns on Friday, a team the Heroes have went 2-1 against this season.
The Giants, a team which has held sixth in the KBO for a few days now is threatened by the seventh-place Samsung Lions, who are only half-a-game behind.
The Busan club now heads to Suwon, Korea tomorrow to play a series against the KT Wiz. The Giants have played their best against the Wiz, going a flawless 6-0 so far this season against them.
First pitch for Friday’s games begins at 6:30PM KST (5:30AM EDT).

Sweeping their series against the SK Wyverns, the KT Wiz won a 5-3 game on Thursday, with the lead being put down after a high-scoring fourth and fifth inning.
While the Samsung Lions got up by three runs in the first inning, the Doosan Bears had numerous innings later on that gave the team a 7-3 win.
While scoring five runs in the final three innings, the Hanhwa Eagles were never able to catch up to the LG Twins, who had a 9-7 lead by the end.
Rain prevented the NC Dinos and Kia Tigers from playing their third game of the series. In their first two matches, the Tigers won 7-4 and 7-6.
