The sole scoring play came from an error, as a ground ball fumbled by third-baseman Choi Young-jin allowed Han Dong-hee to get around from second base to home.
Starters Given Decision
The loss for the game went to David Buchanan, who pitched the first six innings of play. Despite the loss, Buchanan had a decent night on the mound, allowing four hits and one walk while recording six strikeouts.
Giants starter Lee Seung-heon earned a win for his seven-inning outing. Kim Won-joong was given the save for the game after playing the full ninth inning.
Lions Out of Playoff Contention
With their loss on Saturday, the Lions were officially mathematically taken out of a chance to make the 2020 playoffs. With a record of 56-71-3, the team is 14-and-a-half games behind the wild card spot.
The Giants have a chance to take sixth in the KBO with a win, currently half-a-game behind the Kia Tigers. More importantly, the Giants sit five-games behind the wild card Doosan Bears with just over a week left of play.
The Lions will host the Giants for the final time in 2020 on Sunday. The first pitch for the game is scheduled for 2:00PM KST (1:00AM EDT).
