Eagles Sweep Series Against Giants With Extra Innings Victory

The Hanhwa Eagles swept their two-game series over the Lotte Giants on Friday after a hit from Ha Ju-suk gave the team a walk-off 6-5 victory in the 10th inning. The victory concluded the series hosted by the Eagles at the Hanhwa Life Eagles Park in Daejeon, South Korea.

While Giants pitcher Kim Dae-woo was on the mound for the game-deciding play, the loss for the game was given to Seo Jun-won, who let the deciding run get on base earlier in the inning.

Before the extra innings, the game saw the Eagles climb back from a five-run deficit that the Giants built early.

Giants Put Down Five

The Giants were able to record five runs before the Eagles responded. All runs were scored against starter Kim Ee-hwan, who was pulled in the third inning.

Son Ah-seop put the team ahead by two in the first inning, scoring a two-run home run.

Oh Yoon-suk hit a solo home run in the second inning, his first of 2020 after 37 games.

The scoring continued in the third inning with a hit from Han Dong-hee that scored Lee Dae-ho. The following play scored another run, as a sacrifice fly from Oh took Lee Byung-kyu home.

Eagles Work Their Way Back

The Eagles scored their first run in the fourth inning, as Brandon Barnes hit a solo home run. The home run made his streak of home runs extended to three games straight.

The sixth inning saw the Eagles score three more runs. First was a hit from Noh Si-hwan which took home a runner.

Song Kwang-min scored a two-run home run to make the game 5-4. One of the runs scored against Giants starter Noh Kyung-eun, who was pulled in the previous at bat.

Place in a do-or-die situation in the ninth inning, the Eagles had to score a run to tie the game. The first batter in the lineup for the inning, Lee Sung-yeol, wasted no time, hitting a solo home run against Giants closer Kim Won-joong.

Giants Head To Gwangju

The Giants will head to Gwangju for their next two games, facing the Kia Tigers. The team has struggled against the Tigers this season, having only won four of the 13 games between the teams. The first pitch for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 5:00PM KST (4:00AM EDT).

Around The KBO

The Samsung Lions tied up their series with the Doosan Bears, defeating the team 4-3 on Friday.

A one-sided win went to the NC Dinos, who defeated the LG Twins 7-1.

Earning his 15th win of the 2020 season, Odrisamer Despaigne lead the KT Wiz to a 7-3 win against the Kia Tigers.

Tied 3-3, a game between the SK Wyverns and Kiwoom Heroes went into extra innings. The Wyverns were able to score five runs in the 11th inning to gain a lead. While the Heroes scored three runs in the 11th, they couldn’t out-score the Wyverns, making them lose 8-6.
