Twins Score 10 Runs In Two Innings To Defeat Giants

A strong two innings from the LG Twins took a Sunday game out of reach for the Lotte Giants, with the final score being 10-6. The game finished a three-game series at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, Korea.

While the Giants got ahead early, it was a four-run fifth inning and an even larger six-run sixth inning that gave the Twins their win. The victory leaned on the later performance of starter Adrian Sampson, as well as hits over a bullpen that struggled to find it’s footing once relievers starting coming in.

Both Teams Get Four

The Giants were the first to score, with a two-run home run from Lee Dae-ho giving the team the lead.

The team scored twice more in the fourth inning off of hits from Oh Yoon-suk and Han Dong-hee.

The Twins had a strong fifth inning that tied the game back up. In an inning that saw every batter on the team get an appearance, hits from Yoo Kang-nam and Lee Chun-woong scored two runs each, making the game 4-4.

Monster Sixth Inning Gives Tigers Lead

An even bigger sixth inning put the Tigers ahead for the rest of the game, scoring six runs.

Giants starter Adrian Sampson was taken out after bases were loaded up in the inning. The starter got his third loss in four appearances, making his record 1-3 in 2020. Getting a new personal high for strikeouts in a game this season with four, Sampson also allowed 10 hits and six runs.

Oh Hyun-taek was brought in to pitch but was taken out before he earned an out, after walking a batter and allowing a hit that scored two runners. Park Shi-young got the final two outs in the inning, with four more runs scoring in the process. The Twins finished the inning with a 10-4 lead.

While the Giants never caught up to the lead, they lessened it in the seventh with two runs against Jin Hae-soo.

Important Week Ahead For Twins

Winning their Sunday game, the Twins finished their series with the Giants 2-1. The team surpassed the Doosan Bears in the standings, taking second place after the Bears lost two games on Sunday.

The Giants stay half-a-game behind the fifth-place Kia Tigers.

The Giants are set to play a series against the Kiwoom Heroes and KT Wiz next week. The club won a 2-1 series against the Heroes in their first 2020 meeting. The team will look to stay flawless against the Wiz, who they’ve swept twice through six games.

The Twins will have a crucial week, playing a three-game series against the top-ranked NC Dinos, and a series against the third-place Doosan Bears.

First pitch for Tuesday’s games begin at 6:30PM KST (5:30AM EDT).
