Another Lopsided Win Leads Tigers To Sweep Against Giants

Another dominant performance from the Kia Tigers allowed them to beat the Lotte Giants 6-1 on Thursday. The win gave the Tigers the sweep at their home ballpark, the Gwangju Kia Champions Field in Gwangju, Korea.

After escaping first-inning troubles, Tigers starter Im Ki-young pitched eight innings in total, allowing only five hits. In final inning saw closer Jeon Sang-hyun finish the game for the team.

Giants Strike First, But Never Again

The Giants got an early jump on the Tigers, scoring the sole run they earned in the entire game. A hit from Lee Dae-ho allowed Son Ah-seop to come in from home.

After that, however, it was all Tigers.

Tigers Get Ahead

A rally of hits in the fourth inning pushed the Tigers to a 4-1 lead. First, a ground ball from Choi Won-joon brought Choi Hyun-woo home, who advanced previously in the at-bat from a wild pitch.

The next batter, Hwang Dae-in, earned his third RBI of the year after a single into center allowed Na Ji-wan to score. A hit from Park Chan-ho brought in two more runners, ending off the scoring for the inning.

An inning later, Dae-in got yet another RBI, driving Won-joon home to make the game 5-1.

After Giants reliever Kim Dae-woo threw a wild pitch in the seventh inning, Kim Su-bin was able to come home and score, making the game 6-1.

Tigers Take Fifth Place From Giants

The win allowed the Tigers to take fifth place in the KBO standings from the Giants. Tomorrow, the Tigers hit the road for a three-game series against the SK Wyverns, looking to build off of their four-game winning streak.

The Giants will head back to their home ballpark in Busan, Korea tomorrow, starting a three-game series against the Kiwoom Heroes. Friday’s game starts at 6:30PM KST (5:30AM EDT).

Two runs in the first inning were all that was needed to give the LG Twins a 2-0 win against the Samsung Lions.

A strong seven-run inning early in the game allowed the Hanhwa Eagles to defeat the KT Wiz 9-4.

Bouncing back from their second loss of the season, the NC Dinos defeated the Doosan Bears 12-6. A late nine-run rally in the ninth inning is what lead them to the win.

Going into extra innings to find a winner, the Kiwoom Heroes beat the SK Wyverns 9-8.
